Questions & Answers
Which SEIKO models are suitable for modding?
We mostly use the SKX009 / 007 or now also the SEIKO 5 sports series or the SEIKO Turtle model (such as the SRP777K1) as basic models. The largest selection of parts is available for this, see DLW.
For those who prefer smaller housing sizes, the SEIKO SNZF17- "Urchin" with a Ø 40 mm housing can also be converted to suit.
Are parts of the SKX 007 series compatible with the SEIKO Sports series?
Yes.
Which movements do you recommend?
We only install the (original) SEIKO 4R36 movement with a second stop(hacking) and manual winding option.
On request, you can also have the previous 7S26.
Which watch cases are there for conversion?
Mostly the original stainless steel cases from SEIKO are used (while still available).
The SEIKO 5 sports series has black / gray PVD refined cases, as well as PVD (stainless steel) cases in rose gold or yellow gold.
Third-party manufacturers also offer cases in titanium and other variants.
What is the difference between the SEIKO 5 sports series and the SEIKO SKX009 / 007 housings?
The older SKX007 housing has a screw-down crown and the manufacturer's information on water resistance is given as 200m *).
The new cases of the SEIKO Sports series have a simple, unscrewed waterproof crown and are tested for 100m *) water resistance.
Are other SEIKO models (references) also suitable for modding?
Basically yes, if you have the right parts. However, this can be relatively expensive. As soon as we have your parts, we are happy to provide you with an estimate. The costs of EUR 39 will be credited when the order is placed. If it is probable in advance that the costs will be too high or difficulties are to be expected, we will unfortunately have to reject work in this case.
